European cities network with the title "Q-Cities" promotes quality and innovations in local administration. It realized its determine official and legally valid establishment in the framework of the 3rd European Conference which took place last December (6-8/12/08) with the title "FORUM of the European citizens and municipal officers: fighting for Q-cities, fighting for a better daily life" with the contribution of the Education, Audiovisual and Culture Executive Agency (EACEA) of the European Commission in the framework of the Europe for Citizens programme.
Up to date the Network is consisted by twelve (12) European cities: Municipality of Amaroussion (Hellas), Municipality of Fonte Nuova (Italy), Municipality of Ghent (Belgium), Municipality of Lacatamia (Cyprus), Municipality of Limassol (Cyprus), Municipality of Nea Ionia Magnesias (Hellas), Municipality of Ploiesti (Romania), Municipality of Porto (Portugal), Municipality of Strovolos (Cyprus), Municipality of Umea (Sweden), Municipality of Voula (Hellas), Municipality of Xanthi (Hellas).
The mission of the Q-Cities Network is the wider communication among the European cities, the search of common methods and tools for the constant improvement of the quality of the services provided to the European citizens, the development of policies by the European institutional bodies for the administrative modernization and the constant reform of the operation and the structures of the European Administration, the dissemination to the European Administration of the innovative initiatives which are developed by the European Municipalities, the establishment of awards and motives by the bodies of the E.U. for the encouragement of the effort of the administrative reform in the European Administration.
